Volunteer
Love caring for animals but don’t have time to foster? You can still help!
Since our rescue is foster-based, most of our adoptable kittens are placed with one of our two partner PetSmart Adoption Centers, in Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens. Caring for the kittens in the pet stores requires a whole team of amazing volunteers. Pet store volunteers feed, scoop litter boxes, sweep and mop floors, and tidy up condos and play areas. We also rely on our volunteers to monitor the health and wellbeing of our kittens in the store and communicate any concerns to the team.
Pet store volunteers must complete training and we ask for a commitment of 1.5 - 2 hours per shift, with two shifts a month minimum, please.
Foster
Palm Beach Purrs is an entirely foster-based rescue, so we wouldn’t exist without our loving foster families opening their homes to the kittens and cats in our care. There are many benefits to animals receiving care outside of the shelter system, such as improved socialization and outcomes, along with vastly reduced stress and risk of illness.
Foster opportunities vary in timeframe and scope of care, but generally fostering young kittens requires a foster family that is home often so that they can monitor the health of the kitten(s). All cats and kittens complete a two week quarantine and our vet-guided deworming protocol in foster care. At 2-2.5 pounds, healthy kittens are eligible for spay/neuter surgery with one of our veterinary partners. Soon after surgery, they graduate to our adoption program.
